A doctor who cared too much.

Just heard a news about a doctor who ended her life after taking a large quantity of drug...... A letter by her bedside saying that she cannot carry on her life for caring for her patients anymore.
A feeling of sadness and empathy suddenly surged through my heart when I heard about this. While the public has been trying hard to find faults in doctors and hopefully nail them to death, there is quite a lot of us still carrying on being dedicated doctors looking after their patients as well as we could. Such pressure was so high to some that they have to find some alternative way to end it.
Work and life need to be maintained in a balance. A healthy mental well being would definitely benefit your daily work performance in this caring profession. It is almost a duty to some break for yourself but also your patients.
A note to the public, while you are still not satisfied with the service you get from the doctors, please also think that we are also human beings who actually try very hard to care. The current medicolegal climate does not make our jobs any easier.
To those doctors who still hold on to their sanity, do fight on. At the end of the day, the righteous will win. There are still appreciative patients out there. The justice will be done.
